I'm also late to the party here, but congrats on your Luke Gtrman.
I got my first Luke in 2006, wish I'd been able to try one long before that. It's just such a great design, nice and small, fantastic neck profile and seemingly so easy to play, nice and slinky.
Great tones from the EMG's, and despite many people's opinions on active pups being sterile and having a signature sound, I've had two standard Lukes and both had a different sound from each other. One was a bit smoother than the other, great for cleans, and the other seemed to have a bit more of a rough edge, great for dirt.
My BFR Luke has the best of both worlds, and I'd say that the overall tone is just a bit richer than my standard Lukes were. It has a smidge more sustain and overall the BFR appointments just lift it that bit higher in feel and looks.
I decided that my BFR Luke gave me everything I wanted from a Luke so I sold my standard ones and scaled down my EBMM collection as my search for the ideal EBMM for me was over.
I may pick a standard Luke up again in the future for throwing around. I really liked the look of my Carbon Blue Pearl Luke with its natty headstock. But of course that colour is now discontinued...
Either way, standard or BFR, the Luke is one heck of a guitar.
