I am thinking of getting one of these. I have a few questions for those who know. I owned a Sub 1 guitar to base my questions on.

1. Is the neck shape the same, or similar to the sub 1 /silohuette?

2. The HH model has a rosewood neck. What is the sonic difference from a maple vs rosewood neck?

3. Is the body of the Albert Lee model bigger than a silohuette?

Thanks
Frank

From what I recall from owning a Silo years ago, I don't think the necks are the same, but they might be close.

For me, the HH with rosewood neck sounds a tad bit darker than the maple neck, but the biggest difference is in how it feels. It's hard to explain. It just feels different because the wood grain is a bit more open than maple.

The body of the Albert Lee is closer to a strat than the Silo is in my opinion. It's very comfortable to play and very balanced.

The AL definitely is (I have several ALs and Silos to compare) closer to a S****. Sounds more like one as well. It is the most comfortable and balanced guitar available anywhere in my opionion. It's brilliant. Unless I need the high output of the Axis or EVH, its the AL that gets the call. I have an AL with three buckers in it and a SSS. Still looking for an AL HH, but they haven't shown up in my neck of the woods yet.

I've owned 1 AL, 3 Silo Specials, and 1 Sub 1 over the years; the AL neck is somewhat similar but a bit thicker in depth to the Silo Special/Sub 1 neck. It's not a large neck at all, they are all very close at the 12th fret but the AL is thicker at the 1st fret - kind of the difference between a mid-60s Strat (the Silo Special neck) and a mid-60s Tele (the AL neck).

The AL body is slightly larger than a Silo Special - not in length but it is "filled out" more; as others have said it's more the mass of a Strat but in that cool angular "mid-century modern" shape.
