Rack Building Question.

Ok...this is not really for me. I was asked about building a guitar rack and the question of pre-amps came up. The person who is building the rack has a Rocktron VooDu Valve preamp. If I am correct, don't you need a power amp or amp head to "push" this unit through a cab? He is wanting to run the preamp through a 4 X 12 cab. He has the rack mounted tuner, wireless and power. I think he is still missing an "amp" in there of some sort. Is this correct? All answers to this would be cool. I don't need to know what model to get, just what to get if you know what I mean. Thanks all.

Hey koogie, you're correct!!! He will need a poweramp or an amp head which he'll use as a slave.
Btw, how's the situation with your band's equipment progressing?

yep you are correct he needs a power amp of some kind, preamp's put put tiny signal that are only ok for powering headphones

The situation is coming along painfully slow unfortunately. I was given an amount that is covered....barely covers my GK amp and a neck on the bongo.
So, I am waiting for that to come in. I still have to buy my cab, limiter/compressor, power, wireless and the rack....I just had a great set up and didn't even have to adjust anything but the volume....oh well...I wrote down all my settings, so it will be easy to dial it back in.

I'm rack systems user so I'll answer your question with pleasure. The most important is all that "cabelogic" - the way how to connect everything with some logic and ergonomic. I use ADA MP-1, Mesa 2:90 (power set down to 2:70 for my own order), Rocktron Intellifex, Korg DTR-1000, NADY wireless. So it's not too many units now, I used to have more things but to get my first EBMM I had to sell those things like Jackson GP-1000 Preamp, EQ, etc...However my main target is Mr Road King the second (or Mr Mark the fourth).
