I have been told that I will have my new radiance red Bongo 5 in my hands by next wednesday. I am getting it with a white ice pickguard. Does anyone have any pics of radiance red Bongos with that and other pickguards? I'm also going to get a plain ol black pickguard, cuz I like them - but I'm wondering what they look like with all different ones.

I've noticed from people round here changing their pickguards and seeing lots of different combinations that there always seems to be one that just looks "right" to me. White ice on radiance red kinda screams at you, and i want to also get one for when I'm feeling a little more laid back.

Waiting sucks. I WANT MY BONGO!

Jose, I don't have a radiance red EBMM, shockingly enough, but I used to have this CAR Jazz bass, and it had a sort of mint green (actually creamy off-white) pg on it and it looked really nice.

Kind of low-key for me, but I dug it:

Just a thought.

I don't wanna hear it. Until you have to wait 3+ months for a Bongo, you'll get no pitty from me. :D :D :D

Andrew

Hey - I waited over 2 freakin years for my first Bongo. I wanted one months before they even came out and then had to watch Jack start showing his off long before my Bongo piggy bank was full. Bill Leigh even felt bad for me and claims he put the little picture of the Bongo in BP magazine specifically so I could cut it out and put it on my bank. I'm not sure if I believe him.

Ohhhhhhh... I know about suffering and waiting.

Can I have your pity now? Or a pic I put under my pillow?

No pitty, if you wanted one bad enough you would of had one long ago!

Andrew ;)

Ohh.. just for the record, I do have one. Perhaps I have't been clear. I got my first, now I'm waiting on my 2nd, and somewhere in dark corners of my mind I can hear someone wispering something about needing a fretless.

Can I see come pictures now already, jeeez.

I guess I came off wrong, I know that you have 1 bongo and that you love it. I was just playing around about not having pitty, although my fretless Bongo should be in any day now.... There will be plenty of pics when it comes in, I promise you that!

To me, Funky Carnivore hit the right combination with his radiance red SR...

Five months. BEAT THAT! Hahahaha!

:p

Heh--I'll see your five months, and raise ya up to six. And, I'll even call by having a fretted bass arrive initially at the 4 month mark that was sent instead of a fretless causing false hope, and a continued wait of an additional 2 months! :p

Joe--
I think white ice looks great with Radiance Red. I also think mint green looks amazing with the RR finish.

Oh, and that little voice telling you to get a fretless is me, Mingus, and Pete whispering to you in your sleep. ;)

I'm begining to fall in love with you guys.

What's the funky carnivore plate? So far I think that's my fav. I also think the plain black is gunta look really cool. Anyone have any pics of one of those? How come nobody seems to get bongos with plain pickguards - AND - finally... is the Bongo with the black ice radiance red? Does radiance red have sparkles like that in it? If so... cool.

More pics pleeez.

The Radiance Red is about one of the most sparkly finishes I've seen in person (not counting the giant flake G&L stuff). I mean, it is "Radiance" Red, so that shouldn't be too big of a surprise.

My "official" pickguard for my white fretless is abalone. It's a great looking pickguard, and I think Funky's picture does a great job of showing the combo. I think you have a winner.

I like the plain pickguard look on my Bongo, but I am having too much fun collecting different odd ball options. I think a plain white pickguard is in order for Moby next--it's certainly a helluva lot cheaper than just buying more Bongos Of course, there will be at least one more....
