hello everyone! i'm a newb to the forums here, but alot of great stuff to read about in here :) anyways my problem is i just bought an axis super sport and love it, but everytime i go to play a guitar i develop very sweaty hands... i wax it everytime i get done and it seems to be ok, but was wondering in the long run will this damage it? i love the feel of the raw maple neck, but was wondering if i send it back to EB/MM would u guys put a coat of sealer on it, or is that outta the question i just don't wanna damage the neck

I sweat a lot too. I think it just makes the maple smell better.

Welcome Pennsylvanian!!!!!!! I wouldn`t worry about it that much. The oil they put on the neck before the wax acts like a sealer/protectant! Try washing your hands before you play. The neck is fine, you dont have to wax it after everytime you play. After awhile you`ll know when its time to do some maintenance on the neck.I know what it feels like to be in love with your Musicman but trust me,the neck is fine.......just play it and enjoy! :)

I would be careful about waxing it that much. Over time it could build up.

If you properly maintain the neck with lemon oil and wipe it down after you play, I don't know why it wouldn't last.

EVH has been using this type of neck exclussively on tour for about the past 15 years. And to my knowledge he never had a problem. His #1 EBMM Amber had the orinal neck on it until he left EBMM.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww...

just kidding, I know when its humid out my finger tips are tearing and I can barely play cause of the moistness...here's what i suggest...before you play, wash your hands really good, in cooler water, then apply some rubbing alcohol to them...then grab an ice pack or a bag of frozen corn and let your hands cool, and contract. While playing keep a fan blowing on yuor hands at all times and keep a cloth handy...

just use a cloth and wipe it after you play

my hands don't sweat so I don't really know how you would take care of it, i've never used any wax or oil on my neck and it's still as good as new
