Re: Stingray Classic issues.

Wow! I wrote a couple days ago wondering about an issue with my 6-month-old Stingray Classic. I'd like to respond to the response here, since my post has been closed.

I've been playing bass for over thirty years and have had some pretty cool gigs during that time. I've played long enough that I'm rather picky about my tone and instruments -- not obsessively so, but I care deeply about it. Even now, I play nearly every weekend night in addition to the 50-60 hours per week I spend at my other job.

I like Stingrays. I've had several. One in particular I really liked, but it was stolen nearly two years ago now (along with a G&L 2500). I still search eBay and Guitar Center regularly hoping to find it. I hope to replace it someday, but so far I've not found an instrument that has the "zing" that one had. I thought the Classic might be it, but it's not -- yet.

I'm far from a fanatic about it, but I have what I feel is more than a passing familiarity with Stingrays. The one I purchased recently does not behave in ways I have come to expect. I don't keep up with all the latest breaking news, so I thought there might be a known issue or something quirky with the Classic. I'm not implying that there's a defect. I just wondered if there was something unique about this model. I came here for help.

Some of you were helpful and generous, and I sincerely thank you for your attention and suggestions.

But I don't understand the reactions of others. Specifically, no, I did not have any photos of the instrument when I was asked. I do now. I return to the forum to post them and find my post closed, along with what I consider a couple smart-ass comments. Perhaps I move too slowly for some, but I have a life away from this forum. I teach college, and with the end of a school term and four classes to teach and 60+ papers to grade, it took me a couple days to get things together.

Clearly, this is not the place to come for help. I won't be back.

And yes, five7, I'd be more than happy to sell you the bass.

berty, why not recover the situation by posting up your pics. You will get the help you need from customer service and the owner himself will talk to you. Remember that for every genuine request there are many others who are just out to make mischief. It is often difficult to distinguish between the two. Give it another go my friend!

So, post the pictures, and move forward. It's an internet forum. There's been a rash of trolling recently. If you're not one, cool. You'll be the first in a while.

So, let's see the bass. If Customer Service can't help you, I'm sure you can sell the bass.

Where and what do you teach?

I just checked the thread and failed to see any smart-ass comments.

You should get with Customer Service and see if they can resolve any issues you may have.

"GO! ...there's nothing for you here!"

Seriously, stick around. There's so much helpful knowledge on this forum. There's also a quirky sense of humour...which you may need to get used to.

the problem is that there have been a few people that have posted to get everybody fired up.. you post fit all the parameters. New Member, Kind of hard to understand problem, waited 6 o months to decide he didnt like it when the store he bought it from offers 30 day returns....

All you had to do was post a picture of the bass and we would have first off told you to contact customer service, and csecondly people who have never seen you bass would give you advice...which is worthless...

My advice is to sell the bass. Im sorry we didnt meet your expectations. The classic is just that a classic 2 bander. It seems that the three band is better suited to your playing.

ALso there were no smart ass comments.....
