Anybody here smoke cigars?

I've been off cigarettes for about a year now, but I used to like chewing on a cigar every once in a while. Picked up a Cohiba recently, and have been anxious to find time to enjoy it..

Anybody else enjoy this glorious pastime?

I know smoking and nicotine is bad and all that stuff.. but sometimes it's good to have at least one vice to stay sane in this crazy world. :) Moderation is the key!!

yes, i enjoy a good cigar. I don't like old fashioned smelly cigars, but there is a company called Acid Cigars that make great "flavored" cigars. Check them out. The "cold infusion tea' is my favorite flavor. They aren't overpowering and go well with a cold lager beer, a back porch, and my EBMM on a nice summer night.

Yeah, buddy.. that sounds like the perfect summer night to me! That plus a beach would be my number one hangout spot!

I myself enjoy a good cigar but I don't make enough to enjoy Cohibas. :p

For the price I really like Macanudo but my favorite would have to be Carlos Torano.

Yeah,

I been thinking about starting smoking, but I don't think I can place a cigar between my headstock and low E string!!

I may just start with Marlboro's or something like that - unless of course, someone has an idea for the cigar.

By the way, how long do they last??

I'm on week 16 of quitting smoking, so while I'd love a good cigar, it ain't gonna happen. I once quit for ten years, and started chewing while fishing tournaments. After the nicotine was reintroduced to my system, I started bumming a cigarette here and there. Then came a nerve wracking promotion, and I've been hooked again for another 25 years. Thanks, but no thanks.

Don't start smoking if you haven't. I smoked 2 packs a day for 12 years and it takes over your life. The addiction sucks. EBMM's addiction is much better. I have a cigar as a social thing in the warm weather and don't smoke them all winter.
How long they last, depends on the size of the cigar. On average, about 45 minutes.

I smoked Marlboro Reds and Camel Non-filtered cigarettes for a while and they tore my lungs up. That plus my sinus and allergy issues I was having made my early mornings miserable. If you do start smoking cigarettes.. then smoke American Spirit or Nat Shermans. A bit pricey, but worth it not to be inhaling those insane chemicals that are put into cigarettes. When I traveled to Canada I smoked Players and Export A. Those were pretty good.

Prepare for a long battle if you ever decide to quit. The addiction lasts a lot longer than the 3-4 day chemical withdrawal. It's been over a year and I still dream about smoking every other night and get extreme urges for a nice deep inhale of some cowboy killin' smoke.

Start if you want, but know the risks both short and long term.

Cigarettes at $5 per day equalls $1825 per year. Clearly enough for a new Ball per year. Now I need to quit and finally have a reason. :p

exactly.

Fear caused me to quit. I thought I felt a lump on my back and was so scared, I quit. I went to the Dr.. and he told me it was a calcium deposit, nothing to worry about. Well, I wasn't going to go back to smoking then. That was 10 years and I never look back. And the money I have saved is awesome.

Rarely, but yeah, I do smoke cigars sometimes. Last time would've been New Year's Eve. It was a Partagas and it was very, very good. I was dreading the morning because usually after a night of some alcohol and a cigar, I wake up feeling like death the next day. I was lucky that I didn't experience that this time.
Smoking a cigar, drinking some suds, playing some CCR on a porch on a Texas night with a good ErnieBall in hand through a nice smooth tube amp..........ahh.
That would be a good cigar.

I quit smoking years ago (good decision). But I love the smell of smoke, always have.

So I really enjoy smoking cigars. Definitely the key is moderation.

And of course us Canucks have lots of choice ... we get Cuban cigars up here and they're not too expensive :)

After a number of failed attempts I managed to give up the cigarettes about 3 years ago. Still miss them sometimes but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

having said that on high days and holidays I do occasionally uncap a tubos on a Romeo Y Julieta No1 and they are lovely.

I've been known to smoke a Cristo once in a while. Never around my JP though.
And since I'm under 21, I have to say that they go quite well with a nice cold bottle of beer*.

*Root beer of course :D
