Really Good metal bass players

Hey im trying to find bass players that play metal and still shred on bass. not just playing G and below. The only one I have found is ryan martini from MuDvAyNe that guy rips. so if you know of a band with a shreddin bass player lemme know. thanks

Sometimes, if I'm feeling really adventurous, I'll play way up in D. But then I get scared and go back down.

Although I'm not exactly up-to-date with is being considered good metal these days I think John Myung of Dream Theater really good. DT's music is very complex and I think you'll have more than a mouthful figuring out all the chord changes, usison lines and odd time signatures. Not to to mention John's three finger right hand technique that allows him to play his signature six string with quite som dexterity.

I don't know if they're considered metal exactly but Living Colour has made some great heavy rock albums with lots of influences from other musical styles. They're all very good musicians also outside the scope of that kind music. They reunited a cople of years ago and they are about to release a new CD. I highly recommend any of their CDs but Stain, with Dough Wimbish on bass, stands out as their best to date IMO.

I really like how Billy Gould used to play his Zon in Faith No More. I don't know if his technique was one of kind a virtuoso, but he had excellent ideas and an incridebible mind open way to make his basslines sound. Anyway, if you try listening Living Colour like basscat said, listen to Muzz Skillings too (the guy that played in LC's earlier records).
then, let me think... Rob Trujillo played incredible basslines at Infectious Groove.
If you are looking for something heavier... try listening some of Steve Di Giorgio's projects, like Testamet. He used to play a fretless bass.
At last try to find a record from a band called Cynic. They splited up some time ago. But they were amazing!
