Reason #43985

Placed my dream bass on order in August -- a translucent orange lefty EBMM Sterling.

Musician's Friend told me to expect the axe around Dec. 8.

Yesterday (12/8), I decided to check on the order. Seems UPS had the bass in their hands two weeks ago and sent it back to MF marked as 'undeliverable'.

No door hanger on this end, no postcard, nothing.

(I'm kind of miffed at MF for not letting me know they shipped it -- as they promised. But to their credit, they found the bass at their warehouse and are zapping it to me 2-day for free instead of me waiting ANOTHER week... I'd like to know how they'd make it up to me if they sold it to another lefty customer or otherwise disposed of it).

THIS IN ADDITION TO...

Reason #43986

We did 75% of Christmas shopping through internet this year. UPS has dropped these packages all over our neighborhood EXCEPT for our house (these were 'no sig. required' packages left on their doorsteps when our neighbors weren't home either).

Good thing we have honest neighbors.

Mind you our house is around 3000 sq ft on a corner lot located on a major US Highway, sitting on 1 1/2 acres. We're hard to miss.

Sorry yall, had to vent. Especially after waiting since Aug 17 for my bass, and knowing these UPf'nS idiots are handling the package cross-country TWICE. This is my first EBMM, and I'm dying to retire my 16-year old Ibanez once I get it.

I'm nervous.

Every time we get a rookie driver, or someone else filling in for our regular guy (super cool dude that he is)...same result.

Our driveway is 10' long...can't miss us.

FedEx has actually left a brand new Fender HotRodded P-Bass on my doorstep...with a sig card to be returned.

Good thing I'm honest!

I've had UPS return things 'undeliverable' or 'refused' after making a single attempt to deliver.

I generally avoid UPS and I will always give my business to a company who ships FedEx versus one who ships UPS, if I can get the same product from both. I'll even pay more to avoid using UPS.

This is the fruit of *multiple* bad experiences with UPS over the years.

that's a big house, unless in that area they are all big. My house i'm building is only 2700 and that's freakin huge for this area.

so everyday you don't have the bass, look at your big lot and house and remember how lucky you really are...

that said, trans orange is a kickazz color, i owned a trans orange sr4 with matching headstock for about 2 weeks once.

Good luck Bottle12AM, let us know when she arrives safely.

Nice colour too. Pix will be required.

I echo the hate the driver, rather than the company. There are some lazy mofos out there dude.

We actually lucked out on the house in a very weird way. Wife and I had to claim bankruptcy three years back (medical bills). Before claiming, we tried to pay bills off by doing a mortgage refinance with a fly-by-nite co. We were living in an 1100 square foot pressboard house.

Lawyer took one look and said, "You can get a lot more for the same note. Ditch the house and rent something for the same note before the court date."

We did not realize how much we were being screwed until we saw how much more we could get for our $$. Three times the home, no repair bills, no insurance hassles.

Worked out well, especially during Hurricane Katrina. For 4 weeks I was able to fit eight extra family members without us having to play 3-D Twister to get around each other.

A reason for everything, I guess. And yes, I feel very fortunate. Had it not been for sheer luck in finding this place, wife, kids, and I would still be in a shack, with nowhere to help relatives when they needed us.

(Back to UPS rant)

Where we live, its a mix of businesses and older homes (c. 1940's and 50's). So with only 2-3 addresses per block, you'd figure it's a no-brainer for UPS to find.

Oh yeah, and an update. UPS can't count to two. Seems the 'two day air' Musician's Friend arranged on 12-8 is due to arrive on the 13th.

-------------
Anyway,

Why'd you ditch your orange tranny after just two weeks? Curious, here.

I can relate to what is going on here. A few years ago I sold $200.00 worth of old German beer glasses on ebay. The shipment went insured over 2 state lines. When the package arrived it was busted open and half of the glasses were broken. I reimburesed the buyer the value of the broken glasses with the comfort of knowing the entire shipment was insured for $300.00.

Long story short, UPS strung me out for 6 months before telling me that I had to prove the value of the glasses in order to gain reimbursement. The glasses were part of an inheritance and I had no proof of purchase (obviously). UPS did not honor the inusrance or reimburse me as a result. This should be a lesson to all who use this service.

Hey, Mel...I was sorta in your neck of the woods today. I had a gig in Kaplan. It was a private party, though. Otherwise, I would have let you know about it.

Sorry for the thread hijack!
