Alright fellow Canadians: I recently moved in the nation's capital region and I would appreciate if someone could recommend a good tech in the Ottawa region... JimiD and/or Raz perhaps?

Thanks!

Kevin McPhail at Steve's Music on Rideau St. is really good, but can get so busy that he becomes a little unfocused at times ;) Still, he's not only a great tech, but really helpful - he answered all my annoying questions for years, and the end result is I hardly need his help any more, because now I do everything he used to do for me myself, excepting neck/fret work and routing mods (which I haven't needed on my EBMMs anyway)

Can I ask what kind of work? A simple set up, or a re-fret?

Thanks for the info JimiD... Have you ever had experience with the tech at Long and McQuade? I have a free setup there because that's where I bought my Axis sport but if the tech is no good I would rather take the guitar elsewhere...

Raz: just a simple setup. I would love to learn how to do it myself but 1) I have no appropriate working space at home to do that kind of stuff 2) I'm scared of messing up my guitars and 3) I'm the clumsiest guy on the face of the earth.... really

Later!

Come over to my house, and we can do it together...I mean if you want to do the free one, then fine, but I have 7 guitars, all were set up by me plus I will be getting the Strobosoft software by Peterson so I can do accurate intonation aswell...so do the free one, then any subsequent ones we can do...it's very easy...hey if I can do it

Terry? Ya, he's really good too - Long & McQuade "stole" him from the Ottawa Folklore Center when they opened and it was quite a coup for them... But he's super busy as well - I've had estimates of "three weeks or so" from them on work I wanted done, and I'm just not that patient...

Cool, so I would do the free one, and tell the guy how you want the action (low, super low, high...whatever) then after that you can put your money where it belongs...towards another EBMM :D
