recording problems

[COLOR=orange is there any one here that has done any studio work?

if you have i'm am curious to know if you have ever experienced any deficulties with active basses
i have recorded a few times now with diferent amps an basses an i have always had technical problems! i dont have any problems generaly when playing but i do when recording, it's sounds like an earth problem that only happen in the studio but with active basses only??!? it's very weird! could it be an earth loop problem? i'v been told to try an have my stingray fitted with a balanced output. i geuss that just earths the guitar!? does anyone know anythin about this, i don't really want to hack into my baby! is it possible to do the jazz bass trick with the copper strip that jaco uses i'v had the soldering redone, bought quality leads.

let me no what you think of this balanced output theory!

I've recorded extensively with my SR5. I've gone direct to the board, I've used a Sansamp DI and I've recorded through my EBS amp using the balanced ouput of the amp. All with excellent results. A balanced signal generally works better in the studio than going directly into the board because a balanced signal is more resistant to noisy environments. I wouldn't replace the output jack of the bass or even add an XLR jack but rather get my self a good quality DI box to use.

My amp has a direct out but I don't use it for recording, Generally I will mic the amp and I find that this works well.

i just went to the studio a few days ago w/ a SR4, went through a DI box, and everything was perfect.
