Me and the band will be doing our first recording tomorrow!!

I'm really excited! I will be using my 06 LE Axis for all the tracks.

This is my first time doing this, so it should be interesting. We are doing this in a "home studio" so i dont know if the sound quality will be any good, but for $100, i guess we wont complain too much!!:D

I guess we will just go and see what happens.

I set up a 'home studio' once about 5 years ago. It was very archaic at best. We put our amps in the stairway, closet, and laundry room to prevent mic bleed and the drums in the bedroom w/ the mixing board. The board was outputting to a cd burner which was burning in real time when we hit record. We worked HARD to get those originals down to our liking. It ended up being a glorified live recording basically. I was manning the mixer and let me tell you, it was hard as hell to get all the levels right with the drums in the same room (lesson learned). Had we had better microphones and more time, the songs would have turned out a little better.

Although, we loved the crap out of the outcome, coz it was us and it captured our sound pretty well. That's all we could have hoped for in the end. That was my first band and i will always have those recordings to remind me of that time in my life. Classic!!!

All said, you can get very professional results from a home studio and at a great bargain. Plus it should be a pretty cozy place to post up and knock out your songs (being it a home and all).

GOOD LUCK!!!! Let us hear the end results...

Brent,

My band is currently recording in our drummer's basement.. a makeshift studio using gear contributed by everyone. I haven't mixed anything yet as we are still tracking, but I think the quality will be pretty decent.

Have a good time in there.. but be well rehearsed or you can end up wasting a lot of time.

Heck, yeah. I'm pretty happy with what my PowerBook can give me with Garage Band. I can only imagine what a better computer with a real recording interface (beyond my laptop's mic jack), some mics and Logic Express/Pro, ProTools, or some other recording software can do.
