I'm pretty sure it's incomparable :D

True. It's a totally unique sounding Stingray, in my experience & opinion. Sorry, but I suck at verbally describing tone, so I'll forego a detailed attempt. But I can say that as for that specific comparison (BFR/30th), the 30th's fundamental, to my ears, is much more coherent - you can literally feel it, whereas the BFR - the one I *had*, atleast - is warmer and more transparent sounding.

Yep, "had'. Call me crazy, but for various reasons, I decided to switch back to the 2 for 1 paradigm, rather than the other way around. While I enjoyed it thoroughly (both playing it and looking at it), I did find myself a bit hesitant about really "givin' it the business" the way I normally do - it's just so damn pretty. But I've come to terms with the fact that I'm just not the type to have one and feel reluctant to play the hell out of it, so ....

I traded it for a new Natural SR4 HH (should arrive in a few days), and a new Stealth Bongo 4 HH (new order)! Yeah, I'll miss it from time to time, but I'm totally stoked about both these new basses ... ok, maybe even more so about the Bongo. :)

If anyone's interested, Beaver at Bass Cental's got the BFR. And I've gotta say ... thanks and kudos to Beaver for the great trade-in value he gave me on the BFR, making the deal totally painless, and also for being infinitely patient while I went back and forth and back again trying to decide what basses I wanted to trade for, sending me pictures, etc ... (that was a very fun "problem" to have, lemme tell ya).

Beaver, if you see this, thanks again man!

So yeah ... another signature & avatar change is in my very near future.

That's quite interesting... and indeed, Robert's 30th has a very coherent fundamental sound and chiming harmonics like no other bass I've played before. Yes, exactly I was able to "play" it... and this fine 30th is staying with me now... Thanks, Robert!!
