I have been tinkering with the different settings on my 25th (HSS) and was curious as to what the other owners out there have come across and liked. I am gravitating towards coils 1&2 is series, set active with everything flat or with a small bit of bass bump but I know there is more goodness out there. So how are you guys setting up?

I use a passive setting with the tone turned about 3/4 to the bass side at church because it mixes better in the pa and because there is a hole in one corner that traps noise. The lady who used to stand in front of it is not there anymore so I'm thinking about working in some active settings. Either way the tones are fantastic. I like the sound best with all the buttons up.

I love the singles in Passive separately or together, I also really dig that the bridge pickup with the HSS brings a new tonal option to the line.

H and middle s in active with a slight bass boost for most of my gig. Middle s in passive with to e at 50 % for mow town vibe and for rock stuff h soloed in series.

Haven't played mine in a while as its on loan but I think it's time to get it back now :)

1. At home for practice through headphones I use only passive mode (all switching combinations)!

2. When practice with a band in a 25 square meters room through small full range cabs PA support, I use active bridge H parallel for fingerstyle, active bridge H serial for rock stuff and inner coils active in parallel for some "acoustic" stuff fake (some EQ tweaking)!

3. When live giggin' with stage monitoring combo amp + DI out through 3.5 kW PA support I use 90% brige H in parallel active for bridge finger style standard Musicman tone, which I play mostly in live performance, ...for pop and dance stuff I switch to serial bridge H and than must slightly decrease volume knob, ...when play rock stuff depends, but use two modes: all coils serial (for harder stuff) and inner coils serial for smoother rock (must decrease volume too), ...for some folk "acoustic" stuff I switch to inner ciols paralell, than must fast tweak a bit with EQ! For occasionally slap tone I use all coils active parallel!

P.S. ...I'm talkin' 'bout reflex 5 HH bass! ;)

To be honest I really don't consciously think about it much and more. I play in a cover band so my settings are different for each song. It has taken a while but now I have the sound I want in my head and I somehow simply know the right button to push or knob to turn to get me in the general ballpark. I simply fine tune from there. My "base" or default setting is Bridge + Middle EQ Flat. Everything else is simply a deviation from that. This is easier for me than trying to memorize a setting for every song.
