does anyone know if on his 7 strings he has the Crunch Lab installed with the bar facing the neck or the bridge? Or for that matter, how they will be installed on upcoming JP7s?

It says on the Dimarzio Site that they are made to always have the bar facing the neck, regardless of the tuning. I would assume this means on 7's, too

From the DiMarzio site:

"The way the pickup attacks a note is both sharper and stronger, and this allows the Crunch Lab 7™ to be installed with the solid bar towards the neck."

Maybe the guitar in the photo has a D-Sonic in it?

The bridge pickups in the JP guitars are all oriented the same with the new pickups, regardless of scale length or number of strings.
