Hey,

I want to play in C or C#, so the normal 09-42 strings aren't made for this anymore ;D.
The problem is I also want to play in standard E tuning and my guitar-teacher always warns me that playing with bigger strings in standard tuning could bend the finger-board and is not good for the guitar :/

So maybe you can tell me about your experiences

I use 11s in E and E flat and also have used 12s on occasion in E and E flat but the neck does have to be tweaked when you put a heavier gauge on , but i think if you do go from c or c# then to standard with heavier strings in might put to much tension on the the neck and it may bow a bit more then normal. there will be a lot less tension on the neck when its in a lower tuning so as soon as you tune to E in will raise the tension , thats when the neck may bow and will have to be adjusted for that again. I dont know but the truss rod may have to be adjusted every time you tune up and down.
