I'm looking at buying a transparent green SR4, but it has a number of dings that go through the finish all the way down to the wood. On a beautiful finish like this, it really stands out (one is on the front face of the upper horn). Does anyone know if EBMM has samples of the stain they use that I could touch these up?

SA,

Not sure if "touch up" paint is available thru EBMM. Check with CS.

Is the "wood" damaged as well, or is it just the paint chip?

I doubt that you could get any kind of samples. You would have to experiment with different stains available at places like Rockler - then once that looked right, you could do the drop fill with super glue trick that repair shops use. I'm also a nut for perfection, so the last time I bought a used Stingray with dings, I sent it to Marty Bell and it came out way better than any experiments I could have tried myself. I don't agree with any of those who say a bass with dings has "mojo" or whatever. A bass with dings is a bass with dings, and I'd rather not have dings! I'd send it to him - of course contact him first, but he does great finishes AND repairs to finishes - martybellfinishing.com
