Say one wanted to find a lined fretless neck (or any other variations of replacement necks) for their Stingray. Can you get necks from Ernie Ball? Or are you pretty much resigned to ebay or aftermarket necks?

And if they are available direct, what's the ballpark for price on one? If you've bought one from ebay, what did that run? Any advice on aftermarket? Do you like gladiator movies?

Ernie Ball doesn't sell parts. If you have a defective part, they will help you out but you have to send in your part before they'll send you a new one. This keeps the EBMM market from becoming like the Fender market, for which I am usually thankful.

(I mean, you see lots of Frankenfenders and guys trying to pass off parts basses as Fender Custom Shop guitars, but you hardly ever see that with Stingrays, et al. Cuz dey ain't no parts out there, really.)

You will probably have to go aftermarket. Moses and Status make necks that fit MMs.

Gladiator? Sure he was!

Moses and Status make graphite necks. They are tricky to install but not difficult. They don't use wood screws to install, they have metal inserts and use machine screws. If you want to go for a wooden aftermarket neck, I would suggest www.usacustomguitars.com .They are in Washington state. They will build you a neck any way you want. Neck contour, headstock choices, size of frets, etc. I am currently have one built for me for a Schecter p bass body I have made of KOA. I am paying $243 including shipping. These guys used to work for Warmoth, but Warmoth stopped giving you neck contour choices. They build a neck one way, standard thin. I am getting a 0.9" C neck. The only thing you can't get is a MM headstock. The 3 and 1 is patented. After shopping for aftermarket necks, I found these guys to be the most versatile and highly recommended from the other bass forum" Low down Lowdown" from musicplayer.com. Good luck.
