Reseting Action, help

well i lent my guitar to my friend and he changed the action some how and i was wondering what is the factory preset for it?

its an EBMM Steve Morse Standard And I Realy Need Help, I Know How To Change The Action to the factore preset and Not How To Measure It... It Would Be Big Help If Someone Could Help Me Out, Maybe Is They Have The Same Model Take A Picture Close Up Maybe If They Have Not Changed There Action. thnaks

thanks but its really hard to get it right cause the low E A strings are very hard to measure, i might have to go to GC Or My Local Music Store To Get It Done...
well now i switch from 10's to 9's and i have to try and see what i can do now.... well thanks for replying.

The factory setting is one thing but you have to find your own setting. Besides, the Morse is preset for Steve's gauge (an hybrid gauge set starting with a 10's). So if you are using a standard gauge set (9-42 for instance) you have perhaps to change the settings.
Perhaps you have a guitarist friend who can show you how to do it ? It's a good thing to know how to adjust his guitar. A guitar is mode of wood, so it's a good thing to know how to adjust the truss rod.

As mentioned, there's lots of info on the forum- just do a search.

You should only need to adjust the truss rod. Here's a quickie way to do it- put a capo on the first fret (to eliminate the nut in the measurement) and fret the guitar at the 15th fret. Now look for a tiny gap between the top of the 7th-9th fret and the bottom of the string. You don't need to measure it, you just want the smallest gap you can get without getting excessive buzzing on the guitar (I mean buzzing with the capo off, playing regularly).

If the gap is too large, turn the truss rod (1/8th of a turn or so) clockwise. If there's no gap, take off tension buy turning the rod counter-clockwise. After each turn, pull on the neck by grabbing the headstock and pulling forward slightly on the neck to get it to settle.

You'll soon get the hang of adjusting the action. If you haven't touched the bridge height then this is all you should need to do to get it playing well again.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to try. Worst case, you take it to a store to get it properly set up. But it's better in the long run to learn how to take care of your own guitar!

thanks man! but i think i set it to the way i want it now, sort of but i was better when i first got it so i might just go to guitar center have the reset it, thanks anyways!

Well I Fixed It Last Night Cause My G was A Little To High For Some Reason So I Had To Change It A Little Without Lowering The Others, I Do A Lot Of String Skiping And I Need Something comftorble to my playing...
