i posted one a while ago
people commented on how there wasnt enough presence
so basically this is the same setting
with a bit more presence
maybe a slight bit more on the treble pot too

what do you think

(all guitar tracks are mark IV, clean & lead)

http://www.mp3.com.au/artist.asp?id=27618

its called 2006 second sample

Very nice, peat! Beautiful phrasing.

What settings, cab, & mic placement did you use on the Mark to get the tone on this new recording? I looked for a posting by you discussing the original "tribute" recording but couldn't find it.

i think im talking about the tribute clip there

in about 2 weeks ill post this song in its entirety

p.s. what do you think of the trumpet?

i have the settings for that lead sound here
lucyslead.jpg

i just have a cheap large diaphragm condensor mic that i put in a shoe in front of the speaker (widebody 1x12 mark IV)
on axis, about 8 cm out from the dead centre of the cone
and about 10cm back from the grille

Interesting eq. I never would have thought to record my amp like that. Your results are good. Since, I'd liked scooping the mids out to a certain degree, I never would have thought to do it like you did.

that for listening

in this clip i wanted to do the inverse of usual things
i was aiming for a very very mid soaked sound
try this setting with you tone pulled all the way back
why sound the same all the time?

anyway that why i went with the inverted 'v' shape
now and 'n' shape
also right at the start
to invert another usual thing
instead of the rhythm being double tracked left and right and lead in the centre
the leads are doubled left and right and the rhythm is in the centre

Ah, different forum. I saw your posting of the new clip there but didn't think to search that archive. :)

I liked the tone; perhaps the delay could be turned down a bit, and it seemed just a hair out-of-tune with the clean guitar rhythm.

Wow, that's the most interesting mic technique I've read. I can think of all kinds of geeky questions around that. "What brand of shoe did you use?" :)

thanks again for listening

trumpet - only just started playing about 5 weeks ago
it was a dodgy take
bad notes everywhere
this was before i knew about how the main tuning slide should be about 1cm out to match most concert tunings

wait till i finish it
the trumpet will be sweet :)

eccou15984_jb.jpg

this is a very nice shoe
i account it for at least 90% of my tone
