I was always a huge fan of Richard Page and Mr. Mister. He disappeared for a while, but just came out with a new record - AND he's playing in Ringo's band this summer. He used to play a Yamaha BB5000, but he's now using a nice Stingray Classic 5 - cool! Before Mr. Mister (Broken Wings, Kyrie) he was in a band called Pages - think Steely Dan meets Ambrosia - West Coast Pop with various cats on the records - Jeff Porcaro, Vinnie, Neil Stubenhaus, Jay Graydon - some of my favorite stuff from the late 70s - early 80s. I already bought his new record and he is not playing bass on it, but in my research, I found out that he was doing the Ringo gig. I would have bought a ticket to one of the shows, but I have gigs on the calender and I didn't want to sub out on them. There are a few videos up on Ringo 2010 - here's one - see Richard at around 1:30 (good shot of the Classic Ray 5)...

Cool, thanks for sharing! I was hoping he would have taken the Chicago gig many years ago when it was offered to him. I have always liked his tone and lines.

Thanks for responding. I just thought it was cool that he chose a Classic Stingray 5 to get back into the game.
I heard that he was offered the lead singer slot with Toto, but at the time, he was busy with Mr. Mister. He also would have done a great job with Chicago if he had taken that gig! I guess there are not a lot of Mr. Mister / Richard Page fans on here....

Maybe wrong... although it was not exactly "my style" at the time (being into the NWOBHM and all) totally dug the band and especially his bass playing. Very musical, lyrical. Always thought is was sad that this band didn't get beyond their second album... (but then again, I maybe should have bought their albums, but money was really tight back then)

Thanks for sharing that link!

PS: Something I don't understand -- why some of the best known drummers of most famous 60's rock acts now play live with additional drummers and percussionists?

Big Richard Page fan here, I have mentioned him a few times on this forum, all ways rated the guy, great voice, great bass playing nice smooth and melodic lines but he rocks along nicely, great to watch live to, sweet to see him with a Ray and great to hear him singing that song again, Tune!

I was curious myself.

"Steve Farris went on to work with Rod Stewart, Whitesnake, Tori Amos (during her tenure in Y Kant Tori Read), and 4 Non Blondes."

I think its called "getting old". :D

Ringo is a great drummer. Very musical. But he also sings and him being the front person in the band he doesn´t want to sit behind the drums all the time during concerts so.... Phil Collins, Levon Helm and other drummers that sings in the band has done the same. Levon Helm can play better than most other drummers at age 70. Ringo is also 70. I personally think that it´s very inspiring and good fun that they´re still out there making fantastic music and entertaining folks. Impressive. I went to see Leonard Cohen live the other day. He turns 76 in a month and he sings better than ever. GREAT concert indeed. If you get the chance to see him, do so. Worth every penny. These older musicians deserve lots of respect. Just wish that I´ll be as alive, positive, outgoing and inspiring at age 70.

Regarding Richard Page. Check out "Third Matinée". Richard Page and Patrick Leonards band. They made one album only back in -94. It´s called "Meanwhile". Fantastic album. Patrick is most well known for producing Madonnas first albums. He made an album with singer/musician Kevin Gilbert (Toy Matinee) before hooking up with Richard Page. Actually, if you find both the Toy Matinee and the Third Matinee albums, buy them. GREAT music. Richard plays guitar and sings on the Third Matinee album and AMAZING bass playing from Guy Pratt. Brian MacLeod on drums.

Good fun that Rickard is playing bass with Ringo now. Hope that they will head over to Europe too. Would be good fun to see.

As far as the question about Steve Farris, I have a friend in Nashville that was going to do some work with him a few years ago, but it never turned out. He was living in Nashville then, but I am not sure where he is now.
