What rig would you guys pair with my SR5? I am gonna be picking up a Peavey Firebass 700 (about 500W at 4ohms) fairly soon and once I have that I will be getting a new rig.

I was thinking either a 4x10 with a 1x15 or just a 4x12, maybe with a 1x15 or a couple 8 inch speakers if I can find em. I like the idea of the 4x10/1x15 cause I have a feeling I will be needing that 1x15 with the B, but I love the sound of 4x12s. I just am not sure they have the mid/high range punch I am sure I will need on some gigs...

(BTW, I am not sure what brands I will be purchasing, but don't make recomendations in that dept cause most likely these cabs will be purchased used.)

Hey man. In my experience, you'll probably be happier w/ the 1 x 15. I play my SR4s and Sterling through a Firebass 700 (tons of tonal possibilties) and an 8 x 10. Its punchy and big, but after years w/ a 4 x 10 / 1 x 15 combination I'm seriously considering going back. It just doesn't have the same presence on the bottom. Something else to consider is finding cabinets rated at 4 ohms. Remember that at 2 ohms that sucker puts out a nice 700 watts, and thats fun for the whole family!

I haven't been lucky enough to try a 4x10 along with a 15 but I do play my SR 5 through an Ampeg 2X10 along with an Ampeg 1x15. Sound of the B is awesome.

I don't care much for the sound through the 2x10 alone. 4x10 and 15 should be awesome. IMHO

Those Mesa cabs do sound killer by the way, if I had the $ I'd have one, but if I had money I'd back to the 4 x 10 / 1 x 15 combo I miss so much... damn Lava Pearl StingRay, screwed up my finances....

Shut up dude, or I'll have one by the end of the week ;)
Only buy one if ya want a forever amp :) I got mine in PERFECT condition on Harmony Central for $750. No scratches - tubes in great shape. Boatloads of volume and headroom. Oh sorry about that - don't want you to be tempted. Buy one, Monkey!

Have you played a Mesa 400+ thru a good cab or two? If there's one at GC you should try it out. You'll rattle the store down!

I've got a very sour taste for Ampeg! About a year and a half ago I went through all kinds of Ampeg stuff trying to build a rig and had issues with all of it. I'm sure it was just bad luck, but thats a name that won't be on any of my equipment anytime soon...
