Lot of old-school players who were around last year are not around this year.

Bob B joins the list.

Truly missed, and a guy who liked his Music Man basses.

Condolences to the family and band. A player's player. He was one of my biggest inspirations as a player and person.

I hope that Ernie Ball will do some kind of tribute.

Bob Birch was a great musician...really important. Bob was a wonderful guy. Bob Birch was so fabulously loyal to us....

All at EBMM are very sad at this news. The guys in artist relations were really down after hearing the news.....

Heres to love and support to the family

Bob's funeral was today.

I interviewed Bob for a bass mag about 15 years ago and I just re-read it. Bob told me at the time that he didn't seek out press, and actually had very little at the time. He only agreed to do the interview because wanted to have something to give his son Jonathan. He was just a wonderful human being, and one of the great unsung bass players, even though he had a high profile gig.

In the interview, he was very forthcoming in his answers, and really gave a lot of great information about his approach. I had interviewed many great bassists, but none had impacted me as much personally and professionally as Bob. Just a class act, and I never would have ever imagined this for him in a million years. I've been in total shock and disbelief for the last few days. I know his band mates truly lost a brother, and are devastated.

It's slightly chilling in parts, given the circumstances. But it is a great tribute to his work, and his approach. It would be great if Big Poppa and artist relations might want to use it in some sort of tribute to Bob. I've got the magazine, and I'm working to get it scanned in with OCR. I have full rights to use. Way before he became an EB endorser, he was touting his EBMM basses. It really has one heck of endorsement for using a stock EBMM bass on of the world's biggest gigs. I'd send Big Poppa a PM, but I see he doesn't like getting them.

I'll keep you guys posted once I get a digital version available.
