Hi guys, I've had my mesa boogie roadster head for nearly 3 months now, and soon I'm going to start touring so I need a really good cab, and it must be a 2x12 (4x12 is too big and heavy).
I really hate marshall cabs (I have one right now) and don't really have time to start playing different cabs, so since I already now that mesa cabs are the best with mesa heads, my choices are: standard rectifier 2x12 horizontal, or 2x12 roadster.
I've never tryed the roadster cab, but on the boogie website it says it's the perfect match for a roadster head and has killer bass response.
On the other hand, the cab is actually smaller, so shouldn't the recto have MORE bass response?
Have any of you tryed the 2 cabs?
What do you suggest?

Neither. Bogner.

I had a Mesa 2x12 and my Bogner 4x12 whilst I had a Roadster here for a few months, and the Bogner destroyed it in every way IMO. Much warmer, more mids, smoother top, not as boomy.

Of course, YMMV.

the roadster sounded good with the rec 212 sounded pretty good. if you want bass response get something ported. the 212 g flex is good, thieles are awesome. they keep the sound huge without the flab.

I have the roadster cab and I like it. Surprisingly small and I am using it with my Marshall head. Can't realy comment on how your mesa head will sound but I am happy with the tone but there may be more bass from the bigger cab of the recto. I think the roadster sound is a little smoother and less metal. Hope this helps,

J

I'm using a horizontal Recto 212 cab with my Roadster head. I think you can't go wrong with the good old recto 212 cab.
