Off Topic Robert Smith's guitar: part Axis...part Al....part?

I caught a piece of a Cure show on Palladia and Robert's guitar caught my eye. I noticed a reversed 4/2 headstock and said "no way". It looked like an oversized Axis, but it was black so it was hard to get a good look at the lines. Did some looking around and.....well, it isn't. As a whole, it's not really even "like" an Axis, but it does have some similar lines to a couple of guitars we know and love.

When I look at this guitar I definately see some Axis in there and maybe a little bit of Al too.....obviously the 4/2 is something that we can relate to....especially with the recent pics of reversed 4/2's that have popped up.

Perhaps I've just got MusicMan on the brain........dunno.

I see no EBMM in that thing. I'm not sure what it is - except I know it's not for me. Not sure there's too many EBMMs in that category!

With you on the first part, obviously not on the 2nd part.

Just to try to show my point, I did a super rough mock up (in about 2 minutes in photoshop) and only shortened the headstock and masked the lower half of the guitar.......you can't tell me that there are no similarities to let's just say an oversized Reflex with reversed 4/2?

There is definitely some axis, al, and EBMM headstock influence.

But I think they could've done a little better with the headstock. Their version doesn't even allow for straight string pull. That's the whole idea behind the EBMM design.
