Here is a question, does anyone here have any experience of the Roland Cube 80XL?

The band I am currently playing with are very quiet on stage (electric drums!) and my 2x12 120w Duoverb is overkill to be honest. I have it on 2 out of 10 and then its too loud! Everything goes through the PA anyhow so its really only for my monitor. I have a Microcube which I like, but I wondered if anyone here has ever gigged the larger Cube's?

I have one actually....depends how you are going to use it. If you are planning on using the cube as a total amplifier/effects package, you may be dissapointed. Currently, I use it with my HD 300, going in through the auxillary input.......pretty darn good. Used to use it before with stompboxes, it meshes well with external effects and such too.

With my Line 6, I use a Marshall 800 style sound with low gain, boosted with a Boss Super Overdrive pedal. Do the COSM models work well with pedals in the front end like this? Most people who gig the 80XL seem to use pedals with the clean channel.

I have a F****r G-Dec 30 and my son has a Mustang I. If you are not tied to tubes, I recommend checking them out. I originally bought the Mustang for my 10 year old son who is learning to play and I was so impressed I bought the G-Dec for myself. The Mustang III would fit your price range and would offer a lot of versatility.
