Rookie Vintage Tremolo?

Okay, so never having had a guitar with a tremolo I have just one question.

How do I install the trem arm? I know it's a rookie question, but I don't want to mess this thing up, so I figured better safe than sorry. So, I'm asking and listening to all with information.
