Well...EBMM content...hmm...Luke did say that he learned "Katy Lied" before it was even released. Besides, he played with a lot of guys who ended up playing with SD. For instance, he did record that CD with Larry Carlton and toured with him, right. And...Luke has that long association with the Porcaro brothers. Plus, Luke really likes SD. So, it's kind of related. :D

No, seriously, "The Royal Scam" is an awesome album. It's got to be my favorite SD album. Larry Carlton is awesome on it. Just love "Kid Charlemagne" and "Don't Take Me Alive." I nearly wet myself when I heard SD do "Don't Take Me Alive" live on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. Chuck Rainey was great too. Fantastic album.

I've been listening to the tribute CD "The Royal Dan" lately.

Steve Morse does "Bodhisattva" and Luke does "Pretzel Logic".

Great background music to work to.

I've been on the lookout for that one. Is it good? I have a couple of that labels tribute albums and they're not bad.

Simon,
This is an excellent tribute. The backing band is terrific and the guitar players all add their own touch to the songs.

I'm serious when I say that when I'm in the mood for some Steely Dan, I can play this in the background all day and not get tired of it.

If you can find it, grab it. If not let me know and I can hook you up.

Is there such a bad thing as a bad SD CD? I love these guys. Donald Fagen's new CD Morph the Cat is pretty damn good too.

Simon

Well, "EVERYTHING MUST GO" suffers in comparison to AJA, SCAM, GOUCHO, TVN, etc.
I'd steer the new fans away from that.

On a side note, I left Sunday on a long road trip (visiting a sick friend) without any cd's or tapes (doh). So I stopped at a used record store, and picked up...
1. Royal Scam
2. High Tension Wires-Morse
3. The Koln concert-Keith Jarrett
4. The first chick corea electric band

I'll end up giving all these to pugninjas in vegas as I already own and love them all.
