The artist is Ruth Davis, never heard of her. Probably backed by an anonymous studio house band. I found this on a compilation album called Superfunk 2. There are some real pearlers on there.

Just had a quick look through my "compilations" playlist on iTunes, another good one to check out is the "Stand Up and Be Counted" series of compilations.

Now just listening to "Dirty Ole Man" by Irene Reid. Killer funk!

I have Volume 1 of the Superfunk set, but no Ruth on that unfortunately. Great compilation nonetheless.
