I "won" a S.U.B. 5 on ebay last night. Right now I'm just waiting to hear how much the guy wants for shipping so I can get him paid. It's a graphite body just like the one at one of the GCs here in town. I'm planning to use it to make the transition from 4 to 5 string. When I'm comfortable on it, I will sell my SR4 and pick up a used SR5 or Bongo 5er.

Well, let me start by saying "It's not a stingray". It does do a good job of mimicking the stingray sound though. It has a slab body instead of a contoured body. The feel of the neck and the action on the one I played was excellent. I still don't care for the overall appearance, but I will be installing a new p/g as soon as I can. It's strong enough that I don't have any qualms about gigging with it. I don't think it will bother me much to only have a two band EQ. I usually run the mids flat on my SR4 anyway.

Exactly what I'm thinking of doing... I'll be interested to hear how the SUB5 compares with the SR

Yeah, me too. I have already returned a couple of basses to MF because they couldn't measure up to my 'ray.

I'll do a side by side comparison as soon as I get the SUB.

Well I did own an SR5 and I do own a SR4. I'm looking to replace my SR5 that was stolen. I'm just wondering how big of a "step" down it would be to go from my SR5 to a SUB5. Or should I just bite the bullet and get another SR5? Make sense?

I hate to be the black sheep - but I think I'd rather have another SR5 than another Bongo...

Did you decide not to bid anymore on the white one on the bay?

I'm still deciding. I think I'm looking for a "younger" one since mine went missing at less than two months old...

I still may bid though. Dunno.

I'm also looking at some on Basscentral
