Sabre at BassNW

Nice, but I bet the 2-pickup Stringrays and Sterlings are gonna make a big dent in the Sabre market.

Oh I don't know 'bout that. The Sabre market is so hudge, it'll probably just be a small ripple :)

You might be right though. Just like the Bongo totally wiped out the market for pre EB Stingrays.

Never underestimate the POWER of VINTAGE. Just look at the rising prices of late seventies Fenders on evilbay. They were made at Fender's all time low point. They're one of the reasons that the Stingrays survived. Those seventies Fenders are one of the reasons for the demise of Fender's dominance of electric bassdom.

BTW, you wanna buy my Sabre? I'm savin' up for a 2 pup Sterling.

Oh man, the thought of a two-pickup StingRay gets me all giddy inside. Of course, a five banger, dual'bucker Bongo makes me soil my pants as well!

Father Gino--> I agree about the vintage fenders wiping out the new fenders.. the quality of the new fenders is terrible though, the necks move and the neck joints are so bad!

as far as that Sabre it says it has passive pickups with an active system so would that compare to my SR4 in sound? I never play'd a sabre...

Fender's quality can be all over the place, to be sure, but I've played and owned some fine modern era FMIC products.

I dunno. I've never had a SR4. Does a Sabre (with just the bridge PU) sound pretty much like a SR4? I think so. It certainly is different than a SR5 or Sterling. Similar, but different.
