Well folks...it was both a sad day and a happy day for me last week. I just got a new Suhr Pro Series S2. Some may ask, what is a Suhr....other...particularly those of you familiar with their pickups, probably know that I'm talking about one quality instrument.
Ah...but to pay for this beautiful new Suhr, I had no choice but to trade my Axis. I only had her a little over a year...in that time, I upgraded the pickups, had her setup twice....and while I played her some, not nearly enough to justify holding on. It just turned out that this was not the right guitar for me. Sadly, it was one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever owned. A tobacco burst with the birds-eye maple neck...just really sweet.

At the end of the day, the Suhr fits my style a lot better...and while I not only lost my Axis (I traded one of my USA Pro-Mod Charvels as well), I'm happy I did it. I can't get enough of this guitar....playability, sound...absolutely stunning. Funny thing is, it's a pretty simple looking guitar...sort of a all black strat with a maple fingerboard and a floyd rose. But for anyone who knows quality, this thing has it in spades...and more than makes up for the somewhat simple look of the guitar. So for once, I traded up for function over form...not something that I normally do..simply because i love to look at guitars as much as play them. Once they've made it to my collection, they're usually pretty safe.

Anyway...I'm writing for a few reasons. First, I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed posting on this site. You folks have always been very cool...down to earth..and very little of the online, forum bullcrap that you deal with on so many other sites. Also, just so you know..my Axis is still listed on the Music Zoo's website, under pre-owned guitars...I think around 1500. I would post my own pics, but they do a much better job (www.themusiczoo.com)....and I'm telling you...this guitar is MINT!
Finally, I mentioned that I swapped out the pickups. My Axis was a GC exclusive and came with chrome cover Dimarzios. I did not include them when I traded the guitar. For anyone interested, the guitar has a Bareknuckle Rebel Yell in the bridge, and a Dimarzio Evolution in the neck. That said, I'm selling the set that I have. They're nice sounding pickups, and would look really nice on anyone's Axis...or anyone else looking to add a chrome set of custom Dimarzio pickups to their axe. $75 plus $10 shipping. If interested, PM me.

Thanks guys...I look forward to your replies.

Todd

The point of my post was not to promote Suhr....I'm looking to put it out there that I sold a guitar...a very nice guitar...it's on the music zoo's website under pre-owned instruments, for a good deal (pretty newsworthy for your faithful EBMM owners if you ask me)...and to tell folks that I have a nice set of pickups that came off an EBMM guitar for sale (also, obviously of interest to some folks here)

Quite frankly...all I did was compliment this brand, site, and post the sale of an instrument...and yes...I did mention the guitar that was a replacement...I'm sorry if that bothers you..but this is a forum..is it not?

Lastly...I came here to discuss how much I enjoyed my time here and to say that I thought the folks on this site were great. So why this kind of response. First reply was a PM for these pickups! Whew

At the top of this forum is a sticky thread titled "Musicman guitars for sale". Why didnt you try and sell it here directly, the folk around here are always buying and selling to eachother and theres never any hassle. At least here if you sell it here you know it will go to someone who will appreciate it!

I understand that I could've tried to sell it here. My decision to buy a new guitar was somewhat a spur of the moment thing. I also got a very good offer from the Music Zoo...which is part of the reason why I don't have a problem telling folks here to go to their site and check it out...1) because I'd like to see a fellow EBMM owner get their hands on a nice guitar...and 2) because the Zoo offered me almost as much as what I was going to put it up for sale on this board at. It was a win/win for me...no shipping..no returns...easy peasy. And as a result, I don't have a problem telling folks here to check it out on their site. They've got great pictures, and it's easy to purchase through them. And I can vouch for the instrument.

I brought up Suhr because, 1) that's what I purchased...and 2) because the first time I ever even heard the name was on this board...someone talking about their pickups.

I hope this clears things up. I'm not affiliated with the music zoo...I just know that someone from this forum would be getting a really great deal on a really great guitar. Period. If that's not worthy of my post, alone, I don't know what is.
In the process..I figured I'd offer up a great set of pickups for a great price.

thanks again.

I'd be pissed if I bought your old guitar from the MusicZoo and then read this thread. From what I understand your guitar the Zoo is selling doesn't have the original pickups anymore and the Music Zoo description of the guitar implies that they are the stock Axis pickups. From their description:

Other features on this Axis are a single-piece birdseye maple neck with 22 medium jumbo frets, a 9.5" fretboard radius, two custom-wound DiMarzio zebra humbuckers, a double-locking non-recessed tremolo, a 3-way pickup switch with a single master volume control, mini Schaller tuners with pearl buttons, and chrome hardware.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe that's why I posted that here...you really picked up on that one man.
Not to mention, the guitar is otherwise mint condition and is selling for about 400 less than what I paid for it

OK...
I've been watching this thread for a few days now and have seen a lot of tension building...

I think Veniculum started off on the wrong foot for normal forum decorum...
Veni- this forum is owned and maintained by EBMM thus meaning we try to keep all topics related to EBMM guitars and i realize that you're trying to state that you're trying to inform us about a great guitar at Music Zoo... We appreciate that as we try to keep everyone in the loop on guitars that we find that we're not going to pick up. We all APPRECIATE the heads up...
Under normal circumstances what we would do is post that in the Craigslist/Ebay Treasures and we can state that it was our guitar previously and disclose the information about the pickups there...
There's nothing wrong with the guitar you purchased to replace it... we all have different guitars in our collection but once again this is an EBMM Forum so we try not to promote specific guitars... we have had discussions about the pickups in your new guitar but not specifically that maker per say...
Congrats on your new guitar and thanks for the heads up... hope you stick around and get to know us better.

The only tension was created by some other folks who are apparently way too sensitive, and are missing the point of an online forum...despite who owns or manages it.
All I did was 1) state that this was a cool message board...(which I'm starting to reconsider... 2) that I purchased a different guitar (and some details on that purchase, including the sale of, and whereabouts of my previous EBMM) and 3) that I have a set of pickups for sale. All of this is related to this message board. If it's not, I'm not sure what the **** is.

After dealing with the nonsense in this one particular thread, I doubt I'll stick around.
BTW..pickups are sold
Thanks

For future reference...if you want to keep customers coming back...don't treat them like dicks on your message board...I mean...it is owned and managed by EBMM, correct?

oh yeah...and by the way...the Cobalt strings are great. But I'll keep my glowing review to myself. I'm not sure if this will be newsworthy...oh yeah...it will be...cause it's EB. Sorry.

RULES are created by the owners of the forum and with any other forum if you do not follow the rules someone will step in and tell you. This is NO DIFFERENT... I'm sorry you feel as though you were treated wrong; however, you're not the first to post in a wrong section. It's not that big of a deal...

If you know BP as we all do he's the most giving individual i know and we all have the utmost respect for him and abide by the rules set forth... this is a great place and he's gone above and beyond for us and has stepped in when other weren't able to do so... HE's a brilliant man!

The Cobalts are INCREDIBLE and i use them on my EBMM as well as other brand guitars... their characteristics are bar none better than anything else i've ever played. I'm sure you'll find they make your new guitar sing...
Glad you got a hit on the pickups... great pickups...

first off...you will be back to read this...people that start scrapes never leave until people stop paying attention to them.

I got no reason to argue with you at all...I like Suhr guitars...I like John Suhr....I love people who actually make guitars.

Here is your compliment
"First, I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed posting on this site. You folks have always been very cool...down to earth..and very little of the online, forum bullcrap that you deal with on so many other sites.

You know why you liked it? probably because there were guidlines and restraint. (check the rules of the road...) There are rules of the road so this place stays open and focused on Ernie Ball Music Man. We started wide open....and each and every rule has come from the members. Thats right...from selling a guitar to posting pics....

Here is what I said that has caused you to attack me three times

really people buy and sell our guitars all day...I dont get offended or hurt...we make tools for artists...sometime someone else makes a better tool for that time and place.

Think of it interms of your significant other....If you posted on thier forum saying.."this is a sad day...Im leaving XXXXX Im leaving because of the beauty and intellect of YYYYY...He/She does everything that XXXXX didnt....But if you want to take him/her off the guys hands i dumped him/her too...you can....BTW I kept her teeth...the ones she has are not original.....His her family would probably think that leaving her was fine....they probably didn't really care for you...but to wax poetically about the new one doesnt win friends.....

real simple....trade your axis...play your suhr and make good music....

I don't normally get involved in these types of threads, but since I havn't been "zapped" lately here goes. I think Todd's sincerity is not to be questioned, however I thought to myself that this thread was going to be a "pun" at the end of the thread. e.g., ". . . .but then I woke up....." or something like that.

Since it didn't turn out that way, I said to myself - this ain't gonna work!!!

Not sure if this will help others, but what I've done over the years is simply said this to myself, before I post something about "another manufacturer's product", is this going to hurt a friend or help a friend (it doesn't matter if it's a forum or not). Now I know BP is a business man etc. . . ., and he can probably take it . ., however even CEO's have human feelings about there products, and even in a polite manner when someone mentions that they prefer another product over their's, especially in front of the entire forum family - well, you tell me is that going to be a warm fuzzy feeling?!

Now in my opinion, if I were Suhr (and no harm intended) I would post that in the break room about EBMM guitar replaced by a Suhr - because that ain't ever going to happen again!!

I shared the Wife analogy with my GF and her Family last night at the family dinner... we got a good laugh about it.
