Please keep in mind that GC is Ernie Ball's biggest customer and it is not wise for bashing to take place on a company sponsored forum.

Agreed, GC has no lock on the "sales jerk" market believe me....they just have more stores and thus more jerks.

for what its worth it wasnt GC that i was at. i actually went to GC today tho and got a small combo to play in my apartment. the dude gave me a really nice deal on an already cheap little amp. my only issue w/ GC is that its a 35 minute drive away LOL. i dont have a GC horror story ... i just do my thing, shmooze a bit and end up leaving w/ a nice discount :)

Yeah, but you bought your new Sterling from Jack (thanks)! Was it because he includes a stale, crumbled, powdered doughnut with every bass he sells ??

Small

there is no rule about Guitar Center I have covered them many many times. I even forward some of the more interesting threads to the CEO.

They now have 158 stores and some are better than others just like if you bagged 158 random independants.....
I will be speaking at their annual managers meeting next thursday for about 400 people

it should be fun

Sounds like fun......nice to know that some of these shops listen to the manufacturers, suppliers and get to hear the public voice too

Sterling, thanks for the input, you are right, there are 3 within easy drving distance of me, and I definately care for one of them more than the others. I remember sometime in the last few months, you at least stating that we shouldn't make it a habit of bashing them because of their status with your company. Thats why I posted what I did.

I went into Guit....er...uh...a music store looking to try out a couple amps. Luckily they had the same model guitar I had just bought recently, a '57 reissue Les Paul. I grabbed the guitar, then I had to look around for a cable. I'm walking around the store carrying the guitar with me, apparently, the cables were behind the counter. After a minute or so of unsuccessful walking/searching, the sales dude says with an attitude:

"Y'now, you shouldn't be walking around with a $2600 guitar."

I replied:

"$2600?? Sheez, I just paid $1700 for mine. Where are the cables?"`

Big Poppa,

Opening words for your speech:

"Thou shalt not sell Music Man instruments without their case (or gigbag) that was included from the factory. In fact, it would probably be wise to ditch this practice across all products, as it just tends to piss people off."

Ending:

"Pull my finger.."

"I was, but not now, at least, not at this shop and certainly not from you!"

They always seem to forget that sales isn't about selling stuff, it's about customer service. How many of us have paid a little extra for something simply because you got good service from the sales staff? I know I have done it many times before.

+1 about customer service. I would and do pay a little more for a person to actually sell me a guitar by being civil rather than push it and being an arse. I had a guy push me by repeatedly saying, "Gonna buy it?? Come on, it looks good on you!!" What, am I buying a guitar or a new suit?? The sad thing is I don't think the guy actually heard what he was saying....or there are fellas and gals out there that go, "Oh...it looks good?? Where's the mirror? Ok, sold...and thanks for making my mind up for me."

beleive it or not ... i was at a guitar shop once and some customer was thumpping away on a bass. He was a great player so i stopped trying out gear and just kinda watched him kick some ass. then, he turns to me and hands me his digital camera and asks if i'd take a picture cuz he wanted to see how the bass looked on him. LOL.

it was pretty funny. but, the dude was super nice and hellof a player
