Hello, i bought a 2022 EBMMSR Special 4H 10 months ago used. It has the issues I've read about. The low output on g and d strings, actually the bass has low output, does not cut through the mix and has a dull tone. All control knobs need be maxed for decent volume output.
I've done the usual. Raised pickup, low strings, installed new strings, new batteries, checked battery compartment, installed new output jack, changed cords, changed amps, tested best i could with multimeter. All 8 magnets have pull and clicked when touched with screwdriver.
I did notice 2 magnets in pickup do not have continuity when I touch red probe from multimeter to them while black probe is touching strings and or bridge.
Not sure if this matters.
Any thoughts?

I dont know the electrical enhineers answer, but having two poles that differ from all others should not be ignored. Do you have another bass to test and compare it to ?

My minor grasp of the electrics has me wondering if those two are leaking some of your signal to ground, causing your low overall output. Or maybe its vice versa ? Either way, talk to customer service !

Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah, I've talked to customer service several times, they're probably sick of me. 🤣
I will most likely order a new EBMM pickup next wk and go from there.
I wanna keep it EBMM, but don't want to have same issue.

The first thing that caught my eye was that the bass is second-hand. Do you know if it was left stock, or modified in any way?

Pull the control plate, look inside, and see if you can find any hackery, disconnected wires, wires where insulation has worn through and touching things they shouldn't, and so on.

No offense intended here, but your current "shotgun approach" hasn't yielded much. Consider sending it in to MM for a go-over (if they provide that kind of service, that is). They might find something wrong that's obvious to them but non-obvious to us.
