Hi, I'd search for a solution but not lucky.
I put a BDDI sansamp between my Fender P 74 and my GK1001 and it sound sweet, the same plugged into my external EMU soundcard.
But when I switch to my Stingray, the sound have an horrible distortion except when I play very very softly. With the Sansamp off, the sound are clear so, no bass preamp battery problem. The LEVEL knob in sansamp pedal are closer to zero (7 / 8 o clock) and the 1/4 boost out disengaged. This problem its the same plugging the sansamp to the soundcard.
Setting the three knobs of the MM onboard preamp to -10 cure the problem, but I feel the sound its not the same as the eq knobs in the neutral position.
Is there another solution?

I really don't know...
my SR4 sounds good in my BDDI.
never had a problem...

Check the volume level on the SR. Might be too hot, overloading the front end of the sansamp.

I would guess that you've got the volume on the StingRay set to what is considered the normal level for the Precision - wide open. If this is the case, there is another solution: Turn the volume on the 'Ray down.

Start with the StingRay's EQ at the detents (flat) and the volume at 50% to 60%, then adjust from there.
