I know that this is the Guitar area, but this is the area with the traffic.

Anybody own the Blues Saraceno instructional video from years ago? Was it helpful and useful for your playing? I am trying to decide if I should shell out the $$ for it. Too bad they don't have it in DVD. Spending $45 on a VHS is tough to stomach, but he is such a great player, so it makes it hard to pass up.

I've got it, and as a HUGE Saraceno fan, I found it useful. However, it basically just goes over his style of vibrato and bending. A little on phrasing too. I like it cause it really did help me get more feeling and vibe out of my bending and vibrato, but if this is something you've developed already, it might not be very helpful.

The video is worth it to me, as a Saraceno fan, just to hear the sound of him playing through the Dirty Boy amp. The guy has a sweet tone.

If your looking for tons of scales and stuff like that look elsewhere. Or, pick a copy up on eBay for half the price.

Hey Shnook! Glad to see you! It's been a while - I was beginning to wonder if you were still around... Have you managed to find the AL of your dreams yet?

Hey Jimi D,

Yeah, I'm around lurking. No, I haven't gotten my AL yet. I kind of got a wild hair to have a guitar custom made at GMW. It's almost complete and should be in my hot little hands in 3 weeks or so. That said, I STILL want an Albert Lee in the worst kind of way. I'm gonna save thru the summer and hopefully buy one used in the fall. Or depending on a few other things, just buy a new one the way I want it, which was my original plan. I just have a 'feeling' about the AL, and I won't be satisfied till I have one for myself. You know how it goes...:)

Thanks for the reply. I am really looking for something with lots of really good licks. I know scales and modes and so forth. Vibrato is a lifelong search, but mine is pretty good. I am looking for licks to add to my bag and to create some new ideas. You can never have enough of those. I just thought Blues would be a good place to start since I really like his phrasing and soloing. I am also not an Yngwie or some other ultra speed style player. (not knocking Yngwie) I am more of a Richie Kotzen, Andy Timmons, Nuno Bettencourt kind of guy. I like chops, but there has to be substance there as well. Blues fits that profile.
Any other ideas where I can get what I am looking for? I know Kotzen has a video, but from what I have heard it has mostly legato, and legato is my strong suit. I can do long legato runs all day long. I want to add different aspects and bluesy licks to my arsenal.

Well, after reading your post, maybe you should give the Saraceno video a try. He does play some licks and I've incorperated, maybe TOO much, some of his bending style into my playing. Most of his licks on the vid are blues based, so there you go. Plus, there's the Rabbit Soup, but it flies by with no helpful hints of how to play it other than some questionable tab. But it's great fun to watch. I could watch Blues play guitar all day and not get bored with it.

I was just giving you a caution flag cause the video is rather expensive and less than an hour long.

That's what I've heard, and that's also what I'm hoping for. Otherwise, I'm gonna be kicking my own butt for not ordering the AL! :D I'll post some pics once I get it. I'm jazzed to say the least. Thanks for the welcome back!
