I was at GC today and they had a white Stingray with a white pickguard and maple fretboard. It was new, but the difference between the paint and the pickguard was striking. At first I thought it might be buttercream, but it wasn't quite as yellow as buttercream. Then I thought it might be an older used bass, but it was tagged new and had a compensated nut. This might have been the first white EBMM bass that I've seen in person, so it's not like I know what EBMM white looks like, but is that normal...for the white on the body to look like it has a few years on it compared to the white on the pickguard?

BTW...absolutely stunning color combo. The maple board with the contrasting whites of the body and pickguard...the black pickup cover with the black fretboard dots. I normally dislike maple boards, but this thing looked amazing.

I have a brand new white Stingray with white pickguard. Was made in the last month's of 2007 and I have it for a couple of weeks. The white is indeed not white but more buttercream like... ;)

I had a white Sterling and was pleasantly surprised by the off white-ish color.

This pic is a white EB strap over the bass to try and show the difference, but it doesnt really nail it,

This is my SR5, and as you can see there is very little difference between the white of the pickguard and the white of the body. It's not nearly as yellowed as the SR4 pictured above.

PS - I suspect that i'll be selling this bass in a few months time, as i've moved to Sterling 5's. If interested, let me know.

I'm also a big fan of the white/maple combo.
Here's my 1990 Ray w/a 2005 Buttercream - it's creamy but not as dark as BC.
I love the '90, it get's even better when the neck darkens w/age.

edit: the '90 actually appears "whiter" than it is in person, here's another look:

Awesome!! I've found the white-on-white boys. Great pics! My preference is white-on-white-ON-WHITE ie. a white pickup cover (a rosewood board with a white headstock is cool too). I don't know why you can't get white pickup covers on a new HH. Are they available as replacement or after-market items?

I just picked up a pre-EB in white (pics soon). It is stock with a black PG and PUP, but back in the mid '80s the owner ordered a white PG and PUP, and he included those in the sale, along with the teardrop case, vinyl gear bag and leather strap. The PG and PUP have yellowed with age. He also had a tort PG, which looks quite striking with the white PUP. But I think I'm going to go with the all white look.
