Caught DT at the Hard Rock Live Orlando on Saturday - those guys can play a bit... Not impressed with most of the bill. Dillinger Escape Plan should be shot for what they put my eyes and ears through. The only other band (except Megadeth) worthy of being on the same bill as DT were Symphony X - any of you guys caught Gagantour?

I'm going tonight in Tampa, FL. They've got one stage inside and one stage outside and it starts at 5 PM. What were these people thinking? - in West Central Florida where I live, and other parts of Florida, there is usually a large afternoon thunderstorm in the summer. Daily, like clockwork. Lately they've been very severe with heavy rain, a little hail and tons of dangerous lightning. (Tampa Bay is the lightning capital of the US with over 100 days per year of lightining storms.)

The only acts I'm interested in is Dream Theater (of course), Symphony X, and Megedeth. I've never heard of the rest. The schedule here is Dream theater from 8:30 PM to 10 PM and Megadeth from 10:30 PM to Midnight. As much as I like Dave Mustaine's playing and songwriting . . . We'll see how awake I am. I work for a living.

I will confess that I didn't make it to Megadeth - I was due at work at 800 Sunday morning, and am not a massive thrash fan. Symphony X were excellent - DT of course were outstanding and Mike Portnoy said they were doing a completely different set at the Tampa show Monday - highlights for me were Peruvian Skies and As I Am - Root of all Evil from Octavarium was the opener and sounded great live. I liked JPs Sil Bass for Panic Attack - it seems weird seeing him play anything other than his sig model now. I should say that I thought they put on a great show - I have been very critical of DT in the past, especially after falling asleep during the Budokan DVD, that they are unable to perform because of the sheer complexity of the material - they proved me very wrong - it must just be for the Japanese audiences that they give a more subdued performance. Looking forward to their tour next year

I saw the show here in the desert.
I never heard of Symphony X before but after I saw them I became a fan.
DT was just simply amazing. The Petrucci guitar sounded fantastic and the Piezo really shined.

I actually only went for DT, Dillenger and Fear Factory.

Dillenger didn't play in Dallas though. :(

I did however get to chat with John for about 10 minutes backstage via the Platinum Package and had him sign my guitar.

He's truly a nice guy and a very kind individual. I look forward to chatting with him again some day. :)

I'm going on the 24th in Holmdel, NJ. I'm going for DT and Symphony X, and to a lesser extent, Megadeth. Been a fan of Symph X for quite some time - outstanding band.

I've been wondering how they were going to handle the stages. The Holmdel PNC Bank Arts Center is basically a hole in the ground with a roof, so I'm not sure where they'd put another stage. It does scare me - I'd hate to think that DT and Symph X could be on at the same time!

Can't wait though....
