Are the electronics/preamp/pickup on the SB14 identical to the US Sterling? I have noticed that the tuners are different. Other than the body wood (and place of manufacture), what else is different?

Thanks

the electronics and pickups are very very close.

3 band active preamp, eq: bass, mid, treble, all with center detent position.

Pickups are ceramic pole pieces with 3rd hidden phantom coil

3 way switch offers series, single coil (w/ phantom coil) and parallel

I own one and am very pleased. Before buying my SB14 I spent a good deal of time at my local GC playing SR's , Sterlings, Ray34's and SB14's.

I ended-up preferring the neck profile on the "Sterling styled basses".......a little thinner. After about an hour of switching between an SR H and an SR14 I decided to go with the SR14 because my playing demands didn't justify the extra $$$$$. The sound and feel were that close IME.

I believe the Sterling by MusicMan line is a great value and addition to the Ernie Ball family.
