The Rockstar AX20 can usually be found pretty darn cheap compared to the standard models. I know that there was a thread here before about removing the Rockstar art. Does anyone know if that is just a decal? If so how hard is it to remove? It looks like there is a dyed top underneath it too but maybe that is just a filler/primer?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

That was my thread.

The guitars play fantastically, in my opinion. The guitar is made of basswood and the top is a vinyl and is really on there. Below the vinyl is what seemed to be a black primer. I was able to get the vinyl off with a razor blade and lots of patience. I then sanded and treated with 3 coats of tru oil that was then wet sanded and polished. The binding is a little tricky as you'll need to pay attention and decide what the finish will be. If you sand the top flat (what I did), it will take the binding down a very slight amount. The clear over the binding is a bit tinted, so your finish will need to either tint or perhaps some other way to take care of it.

Here's the original thread:

I just picked one of these up for a ridiculous price. As soon as I saw it I thought - PROJECT. I can't believe how well it plays and how much I like the sound, however I'm desperate to get rid of the horrible graphics. Would a palm sander work? I was thinking of taking it down to the wood, staining and then sealing it.

Johnny, you'll have to update this thread and let us know how yours goes!
