Super happy to have come across a used 30th SR4 today at L&M in Toronto.

I had sort of figured I would be S.O.L to find a used one up here in the Great White North with the rarity and all....but here it is!

Just so happy to have a 'Ray again...(been almost 2 years....:( ) and for it to be this one makes is REALLY special...will take and post pics tonight.

Now just to find that 4H Dargie SR w matching headstock....although the dream list may have expanded by one when I saw those light green Classic Series 'Rays.....the GAS shudder that racked my frame when i saw those just about put me in the hospital!!

:D

Those are truly special basses. Of all the Stingrays I own, nothing has tracked like my 30th. The fat round bass it has just resonates in the studio.

Congrats on a great score!

Welcome to the club. You know, BP has opined that the 30th is the best stingray ever made. Using flats or round wounds?

thanks!

I set it up initially with GHS Brite Flats...but it really made some issues on the E string 10th fret and up jump out so I re-did it with DR Black Beauties which seemed to help.

Going back to the shop today...my tech thinks the previous owner messed with/messed up the neck/frets/fingerboard or something up in that area as the rest of the bass and every other spot plays like a bell! But those notes sound like a high C# on cheap F**der. I am CERTAIN its a previous owner issue as even a dolt like me can recognize the insane level of build quality on these....I mean regular rays are incredible...this just feels a little more incredible??? :D

Killer bass though and going to be well worth the time sorting that SMALL concern out...I will report back!
