scratches

I just bought a used sterling bass and it has a couple scratches on it. would re-finishing it get rid of the scratches??

Do you really want to get rid of them? Just think 20 yrs time there called wear marks and the guitar will have more sentimental value. My sabre has more warts than a toad but it still sounds great.
