Hello I'm new to the forum 
This evening I restrung my acoustic guitar with a sealed packet of Rock and Blues strings only to find the steel strings had rust areas scattered along the length.
Although they were sealed they were part of a batch I bought late 2020. I guess many years of rain and humid weather must have found its way in regardless.
What is the best way to clean off the strings? Steel wool or similar?
