i love EB stuff but i must admit that I like my Gretsch too. if eb made a hollow body i definately woulda got one of those instead of the Gretsch.

You probably would have liked the one I got at a yard sale last year. It's a 1961 Jet Firebird, with gold hardware, all the case candy and in almost immaculate condition. I'm into prog metal and acoustic stuff, so even though it was nice, it didn't appeal to me. I played it a little, but couldn't get into it - clumsy neck profile and the bridge had those threaded saddles that roll around to adjust string spacing.

I was curious about it, so I posted on the gretsch forum asking about them and immediately had people coming out of the woodwork with extremely high offers. I sold it to a nice older man in Maryland for about 3 times what I paid for my EBMM. I still have an old Gibson I got at that same yard sale.

For hollwbody guitars I've got champagne taste - I got to play a Benedetto Manhattan and fell in love with it, but I don't have $20,000 to spend on a Jazz guitar :)

I too love EBMM. But a very nice simi-hollow for the $$ is the ESP Xtone PC1. I have the PC1FM. Comes standard w/SD Jazz & JB set. This guitar plays and sounds great and can be purchased for less than $ 1000 w/hard shell case.
