Question Seriously, why is there no tremolo routing on the Axis?

I know the original EVH guitars didn't have a routed tremolo cavity because of the artist's wishes, but am I only one who would die for a floating trem on the Axis? The pickups and neck on an Axis are unmatched, but not being able to pull up is a big drawback. The JP line has a floating trem, why can't the Axis?

BP, I'm sure this has been mulled over in the past by your designers, but I'm curious why that line of guitars never received that upgrade.

To the forumites, is this something that would make you want an Axis more?

I think the new SMs come with a little routing underneath the rose to set it to float a bit. Not sure how much pull can be achieved, but I'm not 100% sure.

An Axis with a JP trem would definitely be hot hot hot though.

Please no, don't ruin a great guitar. I hate, hate, hate floating floyds. I just passed on a amazing deal on a Suhr because it was a floating Floyd. I don't want to have to pass on my next Axis for the same reason.

Yeah, I was so sad when I got my first SM guitar with a floyd, because I always had a picture in my mind that it was floating. In the 90's and early 2000 and still on and on, Steve Morse with Deep Purple, has a floating tremolo on his guitar. So it would be great if new models would come with this option, for Axis and Steve Morse guitar. Thank you!

I wish my Axis had a floating Floyd Rose, too.

Not as standard, but as an option for those of us who like to pull it a bit sharp.

A naive question (I'm not full out set-up guy): could you not raise the posts, shim the neck, adjust the p/u height and rock a floating FR?

this is a mod that can always be done after purchase so if it's really your thing do it. I am happy with the axis as it is

Sold mine cause the floyd is too much hassle and prefer the EBMM trem

I'm surprised so many are against the idea. So I am in the minority. The people have spoken.

I've always thought it would be a bad idea to add it after the paint has been applied. It is possible, but it seems like a backwards order. I wouldn't do it because if the guitar isn't designed for that, you are tampering with the balance of the guitar. I was just curious why it was never redesigned to float over the years. I guess I got my answer!

Although I have no use for a sharpening trem, and would not want one myself, I think it's a reasonable option. I'm not in charge of anything....except maybe my own closet....so it's just my thoughts.

That's a good question though. The Axis obviously started as an artist model so that was the original preference, only small tweaks have been made to it since. But I'd guess that it was discussed at some point.

I prefer the vintage trem on the Axis SS. Set mine to float, have no tuning issues whatseover

There is something to be said for the trem lying flat on the back of the body.
I prefer the "dive only" action on the Axis.

I say a big yes for an Axis with a Floating Gotoh Floyd (BTW, it's the best FR on the market!), but it should come with a Tremol-No installed from the factory. This way, you have the best of both worlds!

Call me crazy, but IMO the Axis gutiars with Floyds sound better to me than the one's with a vintage and even hardtail bridges. I had owned all variations of Axis guitars, so I'm speaking from experience.
