Hi everyone,
I was curious how you had your JP6's set up, in particular, neck relief.
In general, I don't need ultra low action. However, on this guitar, it never felt right unless it is pretty low, with the neck very straight. Probably because of how the thin the neck profile is for me.
I re-read the FAQ on Petrucci set up and redid everything. I checked neck relief to specs, I adjusted the bridge to where the top of the plate is level to the body, saddles are 4/64 on bass and 3/64 on treble, and I used the Stew-Mac radius guide to make sure its at 15". After stretching strings, playing for awhile, I still had to tighten the truss rod a bit more to get it comfortable.
It's perfect now. But I'm wondering how you guys have it, especially the neck relief. Fretting the first fret and twelfth, I can't see any space in the middle, but there is the ting when I tap it.
Is this crazy low? Are there any adverse effects from keeping it this way?
Thanks!
