how does sheet music work?

A------
G
F------
E
D------
C
B------
A
G------

thats what ive got so far, but what do you do when you want to go past the A?, and how do you write that its an octave higher, or half an octave higher.

just to keep on topic a little bit, i found a small problem, and it happened on all 4 SUBS (including mine) at the guitar store: hold down the 21st fret on G and play a solid open D. major rattling.

To go higher than A, you'd just have to insert those lines yourself for each note.
-------E-
-----D
----C-
--B
A---

The same goes for going below the G in the staff.

Note: Those faint lines before each note are just there so the positioning can be right.

My guess is something like this:

I'm not an expert at writing sheet music, so if anyone spots some errors, feel free to correct me. And I didn't bother with the timing. :p

Pretty much correct. Only problems (that I notice) are the placements of the two dots of the bass clef (should be around the F line) and the placement of the flat for Bb... in standard notation, the flat comes before the note.

It looks a bit odd without the rhythm etc. but that's as much info as tab gives.
