In August (The 7th) I ordered a Stingray from Music Stop in Newfoundland. When I ordered it They told me that there would be a "4-6 week wait" when I asked. After 2 months waiting when I called I was informed by a different employee that there would most like be "3 month wait minimum"

So now its been 4 months and I still have no Stingray to call my own. So.. Does anyone have any ballpark estimates for regular shipping time to Canada (Newfoundland)? I don't mind the wait, It's just that I've grown distrustful of what Music Stop tells me and would like a more... reliable time-frame.

All basses are built for sale and depending on when you order you are usually looking at 3-5 months. I have seen shorter and I have seen longer but that is the ballpark.

4-5 mths is very fair for any item. You could be waiting 2+ years if you had ordered from another made in the USA company. Plus your Stingray kills!

Your Stingray will be well worth the short wait. Hang tough, you'll be glad you did.

I know, I played on in Music Stop on a cheap amp and even then was amazed... And the fact that I know it will arrive exactly as I want it is even better, haha. Thanks to everyone, I don't mind the wait, I just wanted to know approximately how much longer I would be waiting.

One last thing and I'll be ready to let this thread die.

I just read the section about searching and I saw:
17. I ordered a bass! Who do I ask about the status of my bass?

A: Your retailer. The factory is making basses as fast as possible. Please understand that the forum is not for checking where in the build process your bass is. The proper way to ask is THROUGH YOUR DEALER. Not to be mean or anything, but threads about "Where's my bass, dude?" will be deleted.

Whenever I call the retailer about my Stingray they tell me "It's not here, you'll have to wait longer. We don't know anymore then you do, and can't find anything out." So I assumed they were telling the truth, and I thought that it was strange that they couldn't find out ANYTHING...

But now I read that they can and they were giving me a load of BS while, presumably, being to lazy to call/look into it? Or am I reading that wrong?

(And I'm not putting down Music Stop, because they have been great except for that one thing, great prices, polite employees... Just so I don't get in trouble for damaging the reputation of a MM dealer;) )

I had the same thing ten years ago when I ordered my fretless SR5. They kept on telling me that they were not getting any concrete dates or that it should be "any time now", when I really knew they were not even putting in the call. It took one year to the day.

I am the same way; I don't mind to wait, but I really want to know when. If I think it's going to be two weeks and it takes eight, I'll be going crazy for six weeks! However, if I am told eight weeks and it takes around eight, I am able wait patiently.

Yeah, The thing I hate most is that the store is a 10 hour drive away. Literally a 1 minute walk from my aunts, but for me to go there takes 10 hours each way. So basically, I can't walk in and go crazy until they get my answers, all I can personally do is call.

Now that I know they CAN actually find out something for me I think I'm going to call and DEMAND answers. Any tips from veterans of store purchases? So far the only bass I've personally bought was a Yamaha from Sears, haha.

All you can do is be nice and ask again. Confirm that they have even put the order in and just tell them you are concerned since it's been 4 months when you were initially told 4-6 weeks.

My guess is that you should have it within a month or so given the waiting time that's been mentioned around here lately.

Single humbucker, Black pickguard, White body, 3Eq, Natural head, and rosewood fretboard (not fretless), 4 string Stingray. I've been looking at it for a while and picked it out back when the MM site still had the "Build your own bass" thing going on, dunno how long ago that was anymore though.

That's a wonderful setup. It will also look good with a tortoise shell pickguard if you ever get bored of the black on white look (or white or white pearloid, for that matter).

I've never seen one with the white pearloid, but I have seen them with the Tortoise and regular white pickguards, and they do look great like that too. Thanks again for all you're help.

If you order an EBMM there's generally a wait unless there is something in the system (another M-stop or L&M have one in stock) that they can send. My SR5 was in my hands like a week after I ordered it because I took one they already had.
