A few weeks ago I got to try an Axis Super Sport. I loved the quality, the neck shape, the sound, and the tuning stability, but I disliked the body design: a bit too small for me.

I now have the possibility of getting a Luke or a Silo.

My question is: do these guitars also have a smaller than normal body?

I'm used to the body size of a Strat, so I wonder how much smaller these will be. . .

Unfortunately, I can't try these before buying.

Thanks is advance.

I used to play Strats aswell... The Silo and Axis SS are indeed a bit smaller in size (don't know about the luke though, never played one...)

It took me about 2 minutes to adjust to the smaller size, but it feels much more comfortable to me now...

If you like the Strat shape, you should definitely try a Silhouette or Silhouette Special, take a few minutes with it to get used to it, I'm sure you'll love it!

I'm totally addicted to the Axis Super Sport, which, I think, fits my hands the best, but my Silhouette Special and 20th Silhouette come very close...

Just my opinion... Try and find some place to try them out, it's worth it!

I think all but the AL and JP look on the small side, at least to me.

It's kinda funny, my son's staying with me for a few days and brought along his Gib SG. The feel and appearance of these two guitars (SG and Silo Sp) side by side is so entirely different, but the actual size difference isn't very much at all. His feels like just a long neck to me, even though it's 22 frets just like my Silo, and it's actually shorter being a short/Gib scale neck. The body size is pretty close to the same. Appearances can be deceiving.

No kidding. Almost any other guitar feels like a bass to me when I pick it up. Over Christmas, my family broke out some picture albums. I saw a pic of me playing a Strat back in high school, and of all the things one could think of when looking at a 30-years-younger version of yourself, the first one that came to me was "Damn, that guitar is big". :)

where do you live? maybe there's somewhere around you with a few in stock. How tall are you? It seems relative to guitar size.

I'm lefty, so no guitars in stock around.

I'm 5' 8" but I weigh 200 lbs., so a small guitar looks, well, silly on me. I'm also a bass player, so not only I'm used to big bodies in general, but a small guitar won't look of feel very good. Not that I care so much about how a guitar looks on me, but how it feels it's really important.

Also, I find smaller bodies a bit uncomfortable when playing sitting down, unless I have the strap adjusted so the guitar hangs on me withouth resting on my lap.

I'm 6'4", so yeah, the Silhouette guitars look small on me.... but they feel and play awesome. So it really doesn't matter to me.

6'3" - 210. I've never really thought about how they look, I've always gone on feel and playability.

Ever try to balance a Les Paul on your leg while playing sitting down? Ugh. Balance baby...

That's weird... I'm totally used to strats, and I never had any problems getting used to the Silos... Maybe because the interim guitar I bought from the strat to the Silo was the JP6. But again, tat doesnt' make sense. The JP6 made the other 2 feel like elephants... heh...

Dude - I know! I saw a pic of me with a G&L Legacy, and the thing looked huge! Or I just looked smaller. lol. I dunno, I'm a believer in 'it ain't what yer wearin' but how yer wearin' it'. Shoot, if big was all that mattered I'd be a bass player. :D
