I just found this picture from around 1984 or 1985. Long story short - I was getting married in 1986 and I was up to at least 10 basses, so had to down-size a bit, but I wish I had kept this one. The quick story is that a local guitar repair guy in my area had bought some pieces at auction - necks, bodies, electronics from MM - that's right - it was during the transition to EB, and there were enough parts to assemble a few Stingrays and a couple Sabres. This is one of them. Dig the grain on that body. Also, one of my favorite combos - natural with RW board. I don't remember the weight, but it was probably at least 9 lbs. A lot of the necks were NG, but there were quite a few bodies that ended up as project basses and guitars for local cats.

Wow. I'm not a huge Sabre fan but that grain is incredible. How did it sound?

Sounded great - and great for slap! I didn't have much use for the out-of-phase or the bright switch, so I usually only used the pickup selector switch - standard 3-way switch - simple.

My 1980 Sabre is the same combo: natural w/rosewood.
Yup, it is pretty minty. The low end is pretty massive but also very smooth with these.
